Le nouvel album reflète le travail toujours raffiné du compositeur et pianiste Yves Léveillé. Sur cet enregistrement la nomenclature se définit comme suit ; un quintette à cordes et piano. Le choix volontaire de ne pas mettre de batterie, instrument incontournable en jazz, donne un sentiment d’espace et d’ouverture plus vaste. Donc, pour cette fois, un ensemble chambriste ou l’expression des instruments et l’interaction entre ceux-ci est au cœur de l’œuvre.

L’équilibre entre écriture et plages d’improvisations est fondamental, toutes les dynamiques et approchent stylistiques deviennent possibles. Le compositeur veut que ce concert reflète la modernité de son écriture, tout en demeurant accessible aux mélomanes avec une musique dépourvue d’austérité.

Le projet favorise une cohésion instrumentale entre les interprètes, lui-même au piano, Léveillé a recruté des musiciens de premier plan, virtuoses de leurs instruments respectifs, ayant tous une capacité expressive hors du commun de finesse et de sensibilité. L’ensemble se démarque par sa facture originale, une approche que l’on voit rarement dans le milieu du Jazz contemporain.

Avec un programme de huit compositions originales, l’échelle du temps questionne notre condition humaine, le sablier qui inexorablement s’écoule vers sa finalité, chacune des pièces étant part entière d’une éphéméride.

Une musique immédiate, introspective, énergique, qui se nourrit et s’épanouit dans la temporalité et son contraire.

The new album reflects the ever-refined work of composer and pianist Yves Léveillé. On this recording, the nomenclature is defined as follows: a string quintet and piano. The deliberate choice not to include drums, an essential jazz instrument, gives a sense of greater space and openness. So, for this time, a chamber ensemble where the expression of the instruments and the interaction between them is at the heart of the work.

The balance between writing and improvisations is fundamental, and every dynamic and stylistic approach is possible. The composer wants this concert to reflect the modernity of his writing, while remaining accessible to music-lovers with a music that is devoid of austerity.

The project favors instrumental cohesion between the performers, himself at the piano, Léveillé has recruited first-rate musicians, virtuosos of their respective instruments, all with an uncommon expressive capacity for finesse and sensitivity. The ensemble stands out for its originality, an approach rarely seen in contemporary jazz.

With a program of eight original compositions, l'échelle du temps questions our human condition, the hourglass inexorably running towards its finality, each piece an integral part of an ephemeris.

Immediate, introspective, energetic music that feeds on and flourishes in temporality and its opposite.
